There is a lot of mystique around SEO, but the foundation is boring and simple: get the site technically sound, write pages about the things people search for, and earn trust. Here is the same order we use with clients.
Step 1: find keywords with buying intent
Start with what a customer would type into Google at the moment they are ready to buy. "Roofing work Tallinn price" is more valuable than "roof", even if search volume is ten times smaller. If you want us to handle SEO services for you, see Digitera’s SEO package.

Write down 20–30 phrases: service + city, service + price, service + "best", and problem-based searches. Check volume with free tools (Google Keyword Planner, Search Console) and see who currently ranks on page one.
Step 2: one keyword, one page
The most common mistake: all services sit on one page. Google then does not know which page to show at all. Every core service deserves its own page, its own H1 and its own meta description.
- H1 includes the primary keyword naturally
- Title up to 60 characters, meta description up to 155
- URL is short and readable: /services/seo
- H2 subheadings answer real questions
Step 3: get the technical side right
Technical SEO alone will not win first place, but its absence will keep you firmly behind. Check these things first.
- Page speed on mobile (Core Web Vitals in the green)
- Sitemap.xml and robots.txt present and correct
- Every page is indexable – no accidental noindex
- Images have alt text, heading hierarchy is logical
- Structured data (schema.org) for services and FAQ
Step 4: write content that answers the question
Google rewards the page that ends the search. If someone lands on your article and still has to keep searching, you have lost. Answer the question in the first two paragraphs, then go into detail.
A blog is not a diary. Every post should answer one specific search and point onward to the matching service page.
Step 5: local SEO and trust
For an Estonian small business, Google Business Profile often delivers faster results than all other SEO combined. Fill the profile completely, add photos and services, and ask clients for reviews. On top of that: business listings in directories, mentions from partner sites and media coverage.
How long does this take?
A realistic timeline: months 1–2 for technical fixes and the first pages, months 3–4 for first rankings on longer phrases, month 6 for more competitive keywords. SEO is compound interest – the biggest win comes from not quitting in month four.
